Mehmet Alp Tavas

Orthodontics

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Alp Tavas was born on January 13, 1951, in İzmir. He completed his undergraduate education in Dentistry at Ege University in 1973, and subsequently received his master’s and PhD degrees in Orthodontics from the University of Manchester in 1976 and 1979, respectively. He completed his doctoral thesis titled “Studies into Orthodontic Adhesives.”
In his academic career, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 1981 and became a full Professor in 1988.

Prof. Dr. Tavas has authored numerous scientific publications and presentations in the field of orthodontics. He is particularly known for his studies on light-cured orthodontic adhesives and MBT techniques.
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Alp Tavas currently continues his academic and clinical work at the Faculty of Dentistry, Istinye University, and also provides clinical services at Istinye Dental Hospital (Istinye University Oral and Dental Health Application and Research Center).
