Tamer Ataoğlu
Periodontics
Prof. Dr. Tamer Ataoğlu was born in Ordu. Between 1980 and 1985, he completed his undergraduate education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry, and between 1985 and 1989, he completed the PhD program in Periodontology at the Institute of Health Sciences at Hacettepe University. In 1990, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Periodontology, Faculty of Dentistry, Selçuk University. He received the title of Associate Professor on October 14, 1994, and was promoted to full Professor in 2001.
At Selçuk University Faculty of Dentistry, he served two terms as Dean between 2004 and 2010. He also held various academic and administrative positions, including Chair of the Department of Periodontology, membership in the Faculty Board and Administrative Board, the University Senate, the Revolving Fund Executive Board, and served as the Editor of the Faculty Journal. He served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Konya Chamber of Dentists, and is currently a member of the Istanbul Chamber of Dentists, the Turkish Dental Association, the Turkish Society of Periodontology, and the European Federation of Periodontology.
He retired from Selçuk University in 2019 and began working at Istanbul Medipol University Faculty of Dentistry in the same year. Between 2021 and 2024, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Istinye University. Prof. Dr. Tamer Ataoğlu currently continues his academic and clinical work at the Faculty of Dentistry, Istinye University, and also provides clinical services at Istinye Dental Hospital (Istinye University Oral and Dental Health Application and Research Center).
